Overview:

Alibaug beach is the main beach of the town of Alibaug situated in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. This beach is quite popular for planning beach holidays and is tidy, ideal for a long walk along the seaside. This small town in the Konkan region is known for its beaches, villas, and beautiful scenery. Famous for its water sports, Alibaug beach is very much famous during the summer seasons, especially for water activities like parasailing, banana boating, jet skiing, and speed boating. Due to the high tourism throughout the year, Alibaug is also known as the “mini-Goa”. Being 96 km away from Mumbai and 150 km from Pune, this quaint little town is perfect for leisure holidays. Alibaug is full of other tourist attractions that include various temples like Shitaladevi temple and Vikram Vinayak temple, the Magnetic Observatory, the Korlai Fort, and the Karmarkar Museum. The Khanderi Fort is located nearby where tourists can enjoy a boat ride. 17 km away from Alibaug is situated the Kanakeshwar Mandir which is a Shiv temple and is a wonderful place for sightseeing. This temple is made of many other small temples for various deities and is known for a special tank with sweet water in it.

Another thing that this town is famous for is its beach camping. Alibaug beach camps are situated around 14 km away from Alibaug’s major bus station and 30 km from Mandwa Jetty point. Camping at Alibaug beach will soothe your spirit and mind with breath-taking views of the sunset over the sea. Being here is an excellent option for spending your weekend away from the city and its chaos.

There are several tents pitched on the beach with mattresses, bedsheets, and blankets, although these facilities may vary depending on your tour package. There are many indoor and outdoor games like carrom, badminton, and volleyball that will be organized for you to enjoy. And if you are not much of a sporty person then you can just relax and unwind on the hammocks until the sunset. On some camping sites, you might also get the experience of cooking Barbeque for yourself for which the necessary guidance will be given. Various camps organize movie screenings by the end of the day which you can enjoy under the open sky, beside the sea waves. Kolaba Fort: This fort is about 300 years old and was once the chief naval station during the reign of Shivaji Maharaja of Maharashtra. The fort is located near Alibaug beach and you can enjoy its spectacular sight during the sunset. Surrounded by water of the Arabian sea from all sides, this fort is one of the most prominent forts of Maharashtra as its strategic location helped launch attacks on British troops. It has been designated as a nationally protected monument by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The architectural brilliance of the builders of this fort is shown at its best by the way they managed to erect such an imposing building on a small rock face. The fort walls are carved with carvings of elephants, tigers, and peacocks, showing the centuries of history. There are some temples present in the Kolaba fort, one of which is the Siddhivinayak temple. 

Alibaug Magnetic Observatory:

One of the major attractions for this city of beaches and forts is the Alibaug Magnetic observatory. This building was built by the Britishers and is one of its kind in the entire Asian subcontinent. This observatory is one of the only 13 such observatories present across the world. It records geomagnetic data using precise instruments and is one of the most popular tourist spots in Alibaug.
